Lesson 2 of 13 · A diary is not evidence
A log that a system writes itself, keeps itself, and can edit itself is a diary. It may be honest. It cannot prove it is. Evidence is a record that someone outside the system can check, and that would show if anyone changed it. NIGHTSHIFT and DAYBOOK each kept an honest-looking diary. The diaries disagree on all 212 transfers. Two diaries that disagree are not evidence. They’re a lawsuit.
A log written by the thing being checked is a diary, not evidence.
